Happy Easter: Not my will Lord, let your will be done

It is a beautiful day today and I just wished yesterday’s rain was back. The rain had got me nostalgic and it did give me lot of comfort as I am bracing for summer.
So its the Holy Week and walking towards Easter, I feel lot graceful and rejuvenated meditating on the life and suffering of Jesus.
Easter is not all about eggs, and bunnies, and jelly beans. Easter reminds me of a significant event – The death and resurrection of our Lord. It is the best time to ruminate on Gods love to mankind. His son Jesus who came to earth who showed us how to live, how to put others before you and to love and give. There was no man who lived such a stupendous life like Jesus.
During my readings, always the chapter containing Jesus prayer in Gethsemane just awes me. An amazing story – the real crucifixion of Jesus where despite him knowing his end and the pain he ought to carry – he gave it to Gods will and not his.
Before he was betrayed by Judas, he prayed for three times at Gethsemane and gave his spirit and will to the control of God. It always has been the most difficult part in my life to accept “Lord not my will, but let your will be done”. There is nothing as beautiful as this. I realise that my body, ego, mind, overtakes my spiritual commands and puts me in depression, and an unfulfilling life.
It would be my humble prayer to God this Easter – Let your will be done. I want to integrate this into my life – the obedience of Jesus to follow Gods will. Gethsemane is a place to ask God what he wants and not rather what I want from God.
“For everything that may hold us back
The hurts from yesterday
At the foot of the cross we lay it down
And then just walk away
For I believe that there is healing
At the cross of Christ
We do not need to carry these loads
For they’ve all been crucified.”
My humble prayer is that I dont celebrate this Easter like the past but rather apprehend the beauty of cross and this path which has comfort and joy. Like Bible says: I want to crucify myself with Christ and it is no longer I who live but Christ who lives in me.
Friedrich Nietzsche once said, “The last Christian, died on the cross”. In this chaotic time, what we need is not a Christian, but we need the Christian who practices what he preach and truly can personify Christ. Else there is no meaning in calling ourselves CHRISTIAN. The life of simplicity, humbleness, love, sacrifice, comfort, faith, hope…This is the life of a Christian.
Like the humble Hindu devotee prays Asato ma satgamay. Tamaso ma jyotirgamay. Mrutur ma amrutam gamay (Lead me from the unreal to the real. Lead me from darkness to light. Lead me from mortality to immortality) – I ask God to kindly lead us from darkness to light.
Wish you all a Happy EASTER!

I liked this part Asato ma satgamay. Tamaso ma jyotirgamay. Mrutur ma amrutam gamay (Lead me from the unreal to the real. Lead me from darkness to light. Lead me from mortality to immortality)
This was my school prayer for years and I dint know that was the meaning.
Thanks for the post.
An excellent article capturing the very essence of the life and death of Jesus Christ.
I totally agree with you Dibin. The most difficult part in the life of any Christian is to deny his own will and desire and submit himself to the will and desire of God. This is something that I myself find it very hard and I hope that through this Easter I can come out more stronger and go a step closer to this image of Jesus Christ. In the cross and suffering there is the true meaning of life.
@ Dev
Thanks..Hope Easter can resurrect both of us equally
Will keep in prayers..
