Mother’s Day: Thank you for the love and life!

Yea, Right…Its the Mother’s Day. The newspapers and online media are full of that articles, short stories, tributes etc. While some were kinda groovy, others were so clumsy.
I read this one reflection which said, “Mom, it is because of you that I am rich and I am educated. If it was not you, I would not have been to the West, Thank You MOM.”
It really made me laugh. Is that what he is thankful about? Hehe.. Interesting. I am sure the scavenger on the street will have something better that will put him to shame.
In fact, somebody asked me the same question. What is your Mother’s best contribution in your life? Athough I could not give an outright answer, it made me thinking.
Universally, the role of Mother is indispensable and irreplaceable. She really is the greatest woman on earth, whose overabundant love encompasses, overwhelms and submerges us into the ‘real’ world where there is no dismay, jealousy, greed, hate, dejection, isolation, disappointment. It is adverse and reverse to the world’s ideologies, morals and behavior. I would say Mother’s love is the pristine form of true LOVE, the earthly reflection of our ‘God’s Love’.
And am sure in all our lives, our Mother’s role have been the greatest and the most priceless. I lost my father when I was really young, a toddler who was just coming to the reality of life. After that event, it was all the role of my Mother that kept me moving.
Well, like many reflections I read in the newspaper, thanking their parents for educating and giving them the ‘West’ dream, I would say mine is none of those. Each one of us has varied thoughts on our ‘Mother’ and her contributions in our life. For me, the greatest gift my Mother offered is her prayer and motivation to look to life above the ‘West’, a ‘Phd’ and ‘Career’.
Obviously, most of their parents want their children to be educated, rich and be well settled, and the same goes with my Mom. However, there was a difference in priority in my case. My Ami was the chandelier light that led me to God and it was her inspiration that made me a kind of philanthropist whose priority was a little higher than job, money and career. These are not bad, but it is must not be your ultimate priority. What is the use of a career and the West dream, when there is no peace and happiness in your life? Do you know this truth that ‘Rich countries have more problems than poor countries’. Rich are always worried and troubled about $$, their savings, their future, their lavish spending, deposits…which consequently leads them to a topsy-turvy life. In India, families survive with 1$ a day, but is 100 times more happier and peaceful than many who are in the west who are reeling under pressure. So money is not all what you need for a healthy, happy life.
My father was rich, sharp, intelligent and educated. His whole life was spent earning money, and Business, which finally ended in his ‘brain tumor’. I wished my Dad was still alive, so I could have outrightly told him, I dint want money, nor his wealth, but wanted his love and presence in my life. Neither he nor me, enjoyed the fruit of his labor. So who enjoyed? I will give you the address; catch them – Manipal Hospital, Bangalore. One of the best in that city..hehe..they drained it all.
So like I said, my Mother plays a very important role in my life, for inculcating in me spiritual values, the good morals and the right vision.
Everyday really is a battle and in this so corrupt world, I don’t know if the secular and glamorous values have any ground. But I know, I am happy despite no bank balance, savings..etc. I am also pursuing my higher studies and I can’t compromise with that. It indeed is essential in all of our lives, and I don’t deny that. Alright, I think I wrote more. I will sure get you another elaborate piece on mom, family and me. But for now, looks like I am missing my Mom. So guys, please excuse me. Till our next meet…Adios ~ SAM

Yes it is funny when people fail to look at their SPIRIT and are more worldy
Sam, I like the way you have written it. Many parents fail to lead their children in the right way. My parents wanted me to earn a lot of money, and good job. I do have that now but I lack peace in my life. I take drugs and I still cant come out of it. Blame America for it, not me.
I lost my mother. Whom do I wish today?
