Confronting lovely rain in Incredible India’s Delhi

India is really Incredible! Sometimes a little bit over-incredible. Fighting against the clock, with over 43c weather is a little bit tedious task. And when all is done, I strap my bags and head home for a peaceful sleep, facing another balk? Oh God, I just want India, no incredible to it. Let the flourishing tourism department keep that Incredible prefix.
Monday, the last M of June 2009, is indeed a significant day to mark in my calendar. Nah! Not birthday, or promotion. It’s the day I got unusually drenched in rain after quite few months. Oops. I think, I mentioned it wrong. No months, a year may be
. Everyday, I get up with my pillow drooping in the midday, sorry, ‘allday’ heat.
What a terrible craving it was. God send the rains, cool the city, so at least my pillows dont suffer. It appears to me every morning that I was in some water park and just landed on my bed. Poor thing (pillow), gives me so much comfort only to be wet with my stinking sweat.
Don’t misconstrue please. I don’t mean to say I am alone out in the cold, thousands others in this city go through a similar track. But they aint as grouchy as me, their outlook to such things are more positive in a way.
So where was I? Yea, the significant M day. I strapped my bags, headed home and there God heard my prayer but seems a little late. He did send the rain. But why so late papa? It isn’t the right time to send the rain, I’ve got to hit a long journey and I can’t be stuck on the way. But it seems I had a lesson there. Well whatever, I decided to keep driving my Suzuki Hayabusa (thats what I call my antiquated bike) and make my day one of a special kind. It indeed really was so ‘special’.
In fact, it’s after long time the rains have arrived. And at that beautiful hour, it dint seem good to stop and start the ‘complaint box filing’. I just enjoyed it. It was so heavy and I gave no room for ‘safety’ concerns. Drive, drive, and drive till this yearning is over. Vroom, Broom..Droom..droom..droom. Suddenly, BOOOOOMM, what happened? Just 5-feet away an electrical pole tripped due to the heavy rain. That was like a nuclear bomb, really. And following this, I was a bit apprehensive to ride. Lord, please stop the rain now. I am afraid it might cause a blast in some other electric pole, and surely dont want to die this early.
And there God did hear my prayer. Well, he stopped the rain? Nah! He dint, he rather stopped my Hayabusa bike. The bike won’t run anymore. I’ve got to look for a garage. The bike stopped right in the middle of a road where there is no asbestos or at least some sort of leafy shelter. Hmm. Well looks like my Hayabusa is not used to such bad roads, and such heavy rains. After all its a Japan-made stuff. Remember? Whatever, I pushed and pushed, and finally the balk of my day came to an end in a lovely garage.
The garage man brought his screwdriver, far from where I could see, broke the head of a vertical steel tube hidden top of the engine. He thinks I dint see kya? Bhayya change karna hai. Hmm, I just changed it last month, Alright whats the cost? 200 Rs. Are you kidding me? I wont give. Well then look for another garage. Dilli is a place where you can never give room for a second thought. Life just chalta hai. After all, this is not my first, dint I last month have my tire punctured and got it replaced in a garage – by a kid who deliberately poked it with a needle to have me buy one? Well yea, I did see him poking. He thinks I am an eyeless cuckoo eh? I did see what he did. But just mum.
Shouldn’t I have beaten that boy for making me spend another couple of hundreds on a new tire? To be frank, I think the abject poverty in that boy’s life leads him to such vicious things through which he earns his bread and butter. So much of population, less jobs, how else life will move on? His scrawny bones just moved me to chip in some indirect money that will feed his belly. Not only him, but also his scrawny siblings right beside me. Well after all money is not all what I seek. I believe in the ‘born-empty-return-empty’ policy. So it’s a mutual society, like the ‘life cycle’ system. No saving biz. Havent you heard the German proverb? Charity sees the need, not the cause. Let me also quote Mother Teresa: “It doesn’t matter who it is, and that will help you to grow up in greater love for each other.”
Well no complains God, I know..Life just chalta hai. I enjoyed the rain, I fed a man, and I also did get some exercise to my legs
. My day to end with a peaceful sleep. So let me bid adieu..
Adios ~ SAM

Yes, the rain has really cooled this city. We all were waiting for this. Thank God it has arrived, at least some good nights sleep.
Interesting man. Whats the temperature there? I miss India, do you also eat pani puri ? I love that stuff. Try out when you are really tired and want a break. Else you want to come here? New Zealand is rocking man. You will love it. What you say Sam? Be my guest dude.
